Protective Services Division

The Protective Services Division (PSD) is responsible for managing and providing security and law enforcement at District owned and leased properties. This mission is executed through patrol operations, contract security guard management and electronic access control/security systems.

If you are witnessing a crime that involves an imminent threat of bodily harm dial 911, all other crimes to include parking violations please call (202) 727-1122.

What should my agency do if we require temporary or permanent security enhancements or additions at our facilities (this could be in the form of guards or electronic security)?

Please contact the Office of the Chief at (202) 698-8102. An assessment will be performed and if necessary an MOU will be executed to fund the additional requirements. Please allow your agency as much time as possible to process these requests. Last minute requests may not receive approved funding in time.

How does my program or agency go about adjusting the guard orders or security procedures at our offices or locations?

Please contact the Office of the Chief at (202) 698-8102 and a PSD official will meet you at your location(s) to start the revision process. Agencies are not allowed to adjust their security procedures without PSD's involvement.

Who do I contact if I am having trouble or require additional training related to our electronic security system?

How can my agency obtain recorded video from the electronic security system?

Please contact the Office of the Chief at (202) 698-8102 and the Physical Branch will contact you to begin the process of retrieving the requested video. There is a finite amount of video memory so make your requests timely.

What do I do if my access card/ID is not working properly or is lost?

Please contact the Credentialing Unit at (202) 727-8521 if you have any questions or concerns with your District Government credential. DC government employees can also find more information on the OPM Intranet site.
