The Special Events Division of PSD handles the planning and implementation of operations for many special events, ranging from participation in the Presidential Inauguration to major events hosted at OPM facilities. The Special Events Division is also responsible for responding to disruptions of Council Hearings and protests held concerning city actions.

The Special Events Division of PSD works in close concert with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) Special Operations Division (SOD).
