Intelligence is the newest component of PSD intended to ensure an uninterrupted flow of information and communication related to operations under the purview of OPM. Working with other law enforcement agencies, such as the Metropolitan Police Department, Homeland Security, and other federal agencies in the District of Columbia and Council of Governments, the Intelligence Branch is charged with sharing and coordinating information. The Branch investigates threats against DC Government officials and determines threat assessments in and around District facilities. The Intelligence Branch is a growing aspect of PSD by providing a full and complete law enforcement service component to better serve District workers, residents and visitors.
