Operations Branch (PSD)

PSD

The Operations Branch of PSD is tasked with responding to crimes in progress and taking reports involving crimes or incidents that have occurred within their jurisdiction. PSD also provides and receives support from its partner agency, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). Additionally, the parking authorizations and placard system is managed within the Operations Division.

Deputy Chief, Operations Branch

PSD

The Operations Branch is overseen by Deputy Chief Sharrieff Nashid.  Deputy Chief Nashid has over 20 years of law enforcement experience. Most recently, he served as a Special Agent in charge of the U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Protection and Investigation Unit (SPIU) where he was responsible for the executive management of worldwide protection investigations and anti-terrorism operations.  His work included conducting business on behalf of the Secretary of Commerce and the President of the United States.  He was a representative for Homeland Security, established the Federal Aviation Administration’s first National Antiterrorism Force Protection Program, and helped to reorganize the Federal Protective Services.

For his outstanding achievements he was awarded the U.S. Dept. of Commerce Gold Medal for High Risk Protective Missions to the war-torn countries of Iraq and Afghanistan and the U.S. Dept of Commerce Silver Medal during the World Trade Mission in Seattle Washington.
