
Gerick Smith has over 15 years of experience in the management and oversight of capital construction projects and contacts.
Mr. Smith has extensive public sector experience in capital construction – which includes constructing recreation centers, renovating schools, restoring green spaces, constructing salt domes, renovating and constructing city office buildings and developing parking structures.
His prior work has included planning, development and capital construction for the city of Chicago where he was responsible for complex, city-funded projects. His work included the management of all phases of high-end construction and interior build-out projects.
Mr. Smith is currently responsible for the implementation and oversight of the Capital Improvement Program for District agencies. He is charged with the execution of the District's Capital Budget Program, which consists of the rehabilitation of existing real property facilities and the construction of new facilities to support the District. He oversees all aspects of day-to-day management of projects and monitors and coordinates work performed by project teams, architectural, engineering, construction and consulting firms. In all, he manages a six-year, $700-million Capital budget.
A graduate of Emerson College in Boston, Mr. Smith was accepted in the National Urban Fellows Class of 2003 and earned a M.P.A. from Baruch College in New York.
He mentored with the DC Water and Sewer Authority as a graduate student and also served as a board member for the Center for International Rehabilitation in Chicago, Illinois.
